Kindred, will always be one of my favorite books, because it so vividly illustrated the link between myself and those who have come before me, making me question who I am and who I would have been had I been born at another time and in another place.

I couldn't believe it when I heard Ms. Butler died. She had been my favorite author since i was 9 and barely understood what i was reading. As i grew older, her books became so much more important as my understanding deepened. She is missed and there will never be another author like her.
