Back to School: Children's Books

In many parts of the country, August means first days, back packs, new shoes and back-to-school sales. For kids, it means it is time to finish your summer reading list. Back in the day, those reading lists didn't offer many choices if you were looking for multi-cultural children's books. Times have changed and there are excellent books available that represent everyone.

With that in mind, we wanted to pose the question: What are your coices for the best children's book? Leave us a comment and let us know. Here are some of our picks for ages 3-8.

Lola at the Library : On Tuesdays, spunky Lola and her mommy go to the library. Come with Lola on her favorite weekly trip in this celebration of books and the people who love them.

I Love My Hair! : This whimsical, evocative story about a girl named Keyana encourages African-American children to feel good about their special hair and be proud of their heritage.

Just For You! The Two Tyrones : There’s a new boy in class . . . and he has the same name as Tyrone! The old Tyrone can’t stand it. What will he do?

Red Zone (Kickoff) :Finally the playoffs are in sight and everyone is playing at the top of their game. But what are these red spots that seem to be going around? Chicken pox? It can't be!
